misfortunes of an unexpected kind.

Two days ago, I've received news about my family doctor contracting muscular dystrophy. (It is a characterized by the progressive contraction and weakening of muscles caused by the death of muscles cells and tissues. As of today, there is no known cure for this illness and it is mostly an inherited disease.) And this provoked me to think that life is undoubtedly unfair. Dr. Poon had always led an active and healthy lifestyle, what did he do to deserve such an awful fate.

Fate, they say is one thing, but you have 8 million ways to defy it. As motivating as it may seem, when you look at it in Dr. Poon's case you really start to doubt this phrase. Despite such a great set back Dr. Poon said that he would never give up and he have my most sincere support and well wishes. I will pray for the invention of a cure in the near future.

Yet at the end of the day there is only one lesson we can draw. And it is a lesson that have been around since the dawn of time: Life is precious.

As there are people out there who are struggling to survive, to live, there are also people who want to end their lives because of minor setbacks in life. Think about cancer patients, think about babies who havent even got to see this world, think about those starving people in third world countries, think about soldiers who have to go to war, thinking about innocently murdered victims; think when you have the urge to give up on your life, because there are so many people out there whom we should learn from and be shameful to even have such thoughts.

Live, not because you are fortunate.
Live, because it will tell the world that I am strong enough to live through all the shit reality put me through.
