You weren't there when I wanted you.
You shut me out when I desperately knocked on your door.
You ignored me when I followed you around like a lost puppy.
You weren't in my life then, because you shut me out.
I was too young to understand but I didn't give up.
I always believed that love deserves a second chance.
I was elated when your gates were finally opened,
but you still weren't in my life then, because the door was not ajar.
We made an effort but it didn't work.
We couldn't reconcile our difference,
Until we finally reached a point of no return.

blood is thicker than water was correct.
